Back on the Radar, the Best of 2009


I have to admit, I hold a particular affection for Scottish bands. Frightened Rabbit and Twilight Sad are two bands that were featured prominently on past years’ best of the year compendiums. Last year though I left one out. We Were Promised Jetpacks album These Four Walls was released in June of 2009 and somehow missed my music radar. Strangely the band is a bit of an amalgam of the aforementioned outfits but really shine in their own right. How, how, how did I miss this? For now, to make amends a special video from the Laundro-Matinee website.

Fortunately those intrepid DJs on BLIP find those bands that would otherwise fall through the cracks. I too am very happy to add We Were Promised Jetpacks to my increasingly lengthy list of awesome Scottish bands. And of course I cannot deny the sentiment behind the name.
