I would be remiss if I neglected to report that the 2012 Polaris Prize announced its longlist last week. As always the list is a diverse one with industry mainstays Leonard Cohen and Drake joining newcomers Grimes and Yamantaka // Sonic Titan.

I'm really partial to the John K Samson album myself, which of course dashes any chances that it will win.
I agree with you, John's record is solid one and indeed a contender. Who knows? It might just be the dark horse and surprise us all.
