Walkmen Pre-Release Album for Charity
There has been a ton of ‘great buzz’ surrounding the new release by the Walkmen entitled You & Me and from the selections I have heard so far this one may just find itself atop my list for the best music of 2008. Set for release on August 19th the New York five-piece announced that starting today and continuing for the next three weeks, they are offering a five-dollar download of the full album exclusively via AmieStreet.com as part of the website's "Download to Make a Difference" campaign. All proceeds from these sales will benefit the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center , in accordance with the band's wishes.
You & Me is available for purchase via AmieStreet.com here.
This is a very worthy cause and I would urge you to make the five dollar donation. The Walkmen start their North American tour in August with dates through September. Tour dates as follows:

All the proceeds? That's incredibly generous. I knew there was a reason I liked that band - other than sounding a lot like Leonard Cohen, that is. This does my heart good.
